Following high levels of demand, our gift vouchers are back in stock after we ran out! Great present for birthdays, anniversaries or if you know someone in pain! Phone through to reception on 02890425517 to pay and we will pop it in the post to you.
Excited to have all 8 of our therapists returning to clinics! 😁
Our reception staff are in daily, for short periods, so please bear with us. Feel free to leave a phone message for us to return your call.
It does take a bit of organising, however it is working like clockwork and we are delighted to be back!!…
Staggered clinic times, 30 minute appointments, 30 minute cleaning time, getting used to mask gloves and aprons, clients feeling safe for hands on treatment, physio phone triage and covid screening before appt, social distancing, wiping all touch points through clinic, online Pilates, and much more!!
Looking forward to seeing all our lovely clients too, give us a ring if you would like an appointment 👍
We are now in a position to welcome you back for your treatment.
We have made a few changes to allow us to introduce the safe return of our hands on treatment.
The clinic looks a bit different, with social distancing measures, rigorous cleaning procedures, your therapist wearing mask, gloves and apron…… but it’s still us under there!!
Covid-19 is still out there, and due to the close contact nature of physio, we need to be extra vigilant to protect you and us.
We will be triaging all our clients, by phone or video, and we will be strict with our covid-19 symptom checker.
From this there maybe some clients who may not be suitable for face to face just yet, so we are continuing to offer our phone/video consultations.
I have put together a short walk through video of the clinic and what to expect when you arrive.
Thank you for your support with our Pilates classes over the last few months, we have been overwhelmed with the numbers and your generosity.
Just to remind you of the different media options that should cater for everyone…
➡️ Susan from PawPrint Pilates is using her YouTube channel and pre-recorded Pilates sessions, sent directly to you through WhatsApp. You can do them as often as you like, and when you like 😁 Search for PawPrint Pilates on FB to access these classes.
➡️ Laura is running Zoom Physio-led Pilates on a Tuesday and Thursday night at 7.30pm. Please email northdownphysio.studio@gmail.com to request the zoom details.
All of our Pilates have been free of charge through lockdown, and continue to be free of charge!! If you wish, the instructors have donation options available.
Susan and Laura have been our Pilates instructors @TheStudio from the beginning, and I know these classes have been invaluable to our clients to help manage various levels of mobility, pain and fitness through the lockdown period. Great work Susan and Laura 💪
Thank you to the UK government Cabinet Office for highlighting my business through this video link. (Even though I hate myself on camera! 😬)
As physios we are still working away in the background, using phone/video calls to triage and treating urgent clients at the clinic.
We are hoping to move to the next stage of face to face, and welcome our regular clients back into the clinic for their hands-on treatment soon!
We have had so many enquires on when we are ‘properly’ opening that is pains me to delay your appointment until we get some further clarification from our professional body and our Government.
Be assured that everything in the clinic has been adapted to comply with new infection control procedures with PPE, room cleaning/airing, hand sanitising, client arrival guidance and more!
I will be posting more soon 🤞🏻

"I’ve been lucky enough to access a number of different business schemes."
☝️ Julia Webster from @NorthDownPhysio in Northern Ireland talks about the government schemes which have supported her business and staff.
Preparations are in full speed for welcoming our clients back to the clinic again!!
We are not “open” just yet, however we hope to make some announcement along side Government restrictions lifting and moving into Phase 2 soon.
More than ever, Now is the time to support local business, so….
A big shout out to Tribal Branding for my branded floor stickers.
Scott Medical Ltd for gloves, aprons, sanitiser, soap and wipes.
And Alpine Signs for my cough screen.
We also have the most thorough cleaning company, Clearwater Cleaning, that, on top of our regular cleans, have been “deep cleaning” the clinic. This will be the new norm for us, and it is very reassuring to have their expertise.
We have also been working hard to introduce new policies and guidelines to keep our clients and staff safe. So there may be a few wee changes to take note of prior to your appointments from now on.
This is such a good news story for my bank, Barclays, and a relief for me to be honest, however there is a serious message behind the story.
Barclays have been great over the years with my day to day business banking and helping me with growing the clinic and now in response to Coronavirus with supporting me in securing this Bounce Back Loan.
The fact that I, and other physiotherapy clinics have had to apply for this loan, tells of a profession in crisis. Private physiotherapy clinics are struggling financially, and many will not survive this.
Yes we are a business however the nature of what we do means we won’t become millionaires! We don’t do our job for the money, we do it because it is our passion and our greatest satisfaction comes from helping our clients. We do it because we care.
Like many businesses at this difficult time, we need all the support we can from the Government, and we are grateful for what we have been able to avail of to date. However, I am aware of a number of business who haven’t been so lucky.
North Down Physio supports 14 staff, all of whom have families. I am not shy to say my business needs financial support, however I am determined that we will be open again when the time is right.
This Bounce Back Loan has been a blessing, however it is a loan. With all the adaptions and safety measures in place, physiotherapy treatment will not be the same when we return, however I can guarantee that we will continue to give the same high level of care we have always prided ourselves on.
I would encourage you to please support your local small businesses as much as you can. They have a vital role to play in our community.
Ps, as well as the support from my family, staff and clients it has been brilliant to see the physiotherapy private practice community come together and support each other during all of this. Thank You Julia XX
Post 3/3 Where has the last 6 weeks of lockdown gone to??!!
Our lives have changed, and we are continuing to adapt to the “new norm”.
The weeks to come will bring more change and different normals, and then more change, however, hopefully all for the better.
Our bodies and minds are going through these changes with our environment, however, we are so programmed to do the same thing for so long, are bodies are a bit slower to adapt.
This can lead to mental and physical micro traumas, that present in upset sleep, pain onset, anxiousness, stress, feeling overwhelmed, overthinking and many more.
We are lucky at NDP to have Chartered Physiotherapists who specialise in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture, Myofascial Release (MFR), Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and a few things considered amazingly alternative.
If you are into this alternative, or want to try something new, here are a few ideas to get the most from your (1) breathing, (2) self-acupressure, and (3) energy holds, especially in this virus stricken world. I have explained these over 3 separate posts so keep watching!

(3) Hand Energy Holds
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a Japanese form of acupressure used to reduce stress, restore energy and help emotional regulation. For adults, and children, one technique is to hold the fingers of each hand singly until they feel the energy return.
Each of the fingers in our hand represents a different kind of emotion or feeling.
The Thumb helps fend off emotions like worry and anxiety.
The Index finger helps you fight your fears.
The Middle finger helps control feelings of rage and bitterness.
The Ring finger aids in fighting melancholy and depression.
The Pinky helps relieve stress and boosts your optimism and self-esteem.
Your goal is to balance all the opposing energy forces in your body.
• Start by taking one finger at a time, grasping it with the opposite hand and wrapping every finger around it.
• Hold each finger for one to two minutes.
• Wait until you feel the pulse. This is when you know it’s working.
To aid in relaxation, apply slight pressure to the centre of your palm with your opposite thumb and hold for at least one minute.
If you practice this technique every day, your spirit becomes balanced, enabling you to deal with stress much more effectively.
