Will my symptoms improve with physiotherapy?

Yes. Whether you have a musculoskeletal problem or a neurological disorder, physiotherapy aims to treat your presenting symptoms. Your symptoms may include pain, stiffness, muscle weakness or reduced range of movement. Physiotherapy treatment can reduce or completely cure each of these symptoms. Our physiotherapists ensure you reach your maximum potential by providing you with the most effective treatment methods available.

What should I anticipate from North Down Physio?

During your first visit to North Down Physio you can expect your physiotherapist to take a thorough assessment by asking you questions and looking at your movement. You will be given a diagnosis and a treatment plan with the approximated number of sessions required. You will be educated about your condition and monitor your progress and goals. If a diagnosis is not clear or physiotherapy isn't the right form of treatment for your problem you may be referred onto a specialist for further investigation.

How many sessions of physiotherapy will I need?

The number of physiotherapy sessions you require will be individual to you; therefore your physiotherapist will give you an estimation following your initial assessment. Your progress will be reviewed each session and this will help determine the foreseeable amount of sessions. If your symptoms plateau or you do not improve your treatment will be modified or you will be referred onto a specialist.

What treatment will be offered to me?

Following your assessment, your physiotherapist will devise an individual treatment plan involving a combination of treatments. Treatment may include an exercise programme, electrotherapy, acupuncture, mobilisations and massage therapy.

How experienced will my physiotherapist be?

All of our physiotherapists at North Down Physio have at least 5 years experience through from junior to senior level. They also have Chartered Physiotherapist status and are on the Health and Care Professionals Register, as proven by their CSP and HCPC certificates and membership which they would be happy to show you.

I have a sports injury, should I stop my training until my assessment?

For any acute sporting injury rest is vital for the healing process to take place. We can usually get you in for your initial assessment quickly, without any waiting lists, so your physiotherapist will then be able to advise you on the level of activity possible. We recommend that you call us on 028 90425517 to speak to one of our physiotherapists if this relates to you.

I've just had surgery, do you provide post-surgery rehabilitation? I want to get back to normal as soon as possible.

Yes, we do provide rehabilitation physiotherapy treatment following surgery. When and what your treatment will involve can depend on the type of surgery you have had and the post-surgery protocol given to you by your surgeon. Alternatively you may have had surgery some time ago and feel you didn’t gain the full benefit, perhaps you are worse off than you were before. If this applies to you we have tailor made exercise programmes and rehabilitation techniques to improve your quality of life.

Appointments

Do I have to be put on a waiting list before I can receive treatment?

No, sometimes we can see you on the same day. Usually we can book you in for your initial assessment within 24-48 hours.

I work through the week; can I book a weekend appointment?

Currently we do not offer a weekend physiotherapy service, however we do have physiotherapy appointments available from 8am to 9pm. Please call 028 90425517 to arrange your appointment.

How long will my appointment be?

If it is your first appointment, please arrive 10 minutes early to complete the registration process.

Your initial assessment will take 45 minutes and will involve your physiotherapist taking a detailed history of your condition, providing a diagnosis and forming a treatment plan around your goals. You will also receive some treatment during your initial assessment. Follow up appointments will then be 30 minutes long.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

North Down Physio will provide you will any equipment you may need during your physiotherapy appointment. You should wear comfortable loose clothing. Your physiotherapist will need to see the affected area, so bringing shorts or vest top with you may be appropriate. Any previous medical investigation information would be useful to our physiotherapists such as X-Rays, scans and documentation/letters.

Payments

SELF-PAYING PATIENTS

This is a private physiotherapy appointment, and you are responsible for all charges. Payment may be made in advance if full costs are known, or immediately after your treatment.

Quotations can be provided upon request.

PAYMENT STRUCTURE FOR Cigna, AVIVA, WPA, H3

All North Down Physio physiotherapists are registered with the above insurers.

This is a private physiotherapy appointment, and you are responsible for all charges. You will receive a receipt for your treatment costs, for you to contact your insurance provider for payment.

Our fee schedule is not always covered in full by the insurance companies, as we have our own price schedule, which is the same for all our patients.

However, as there are so many different policies in existence, it is the patient’s responsibility to establish if their own policy will cover both the treatment and the costs of the treatment and identify if they will incur any shortfall.

Methods of payment include card, cash or cheque.

Quotations can be provided upon request.

PATIENTS COVERED BY AXA and BUPA

All North Down Physio physiotherapists are registered with AXA and BUPA.

This is a private physiotherapy appointment, and we will contact your insurance provider for payment.

Insured patients MUST bring insurance policy numbers and authorisation numbers to the clinic at their first visit

Patients must always confirm the terms of their policy with their insurer before coming to their first appointment as the timing and method of referral must comply with the insurer’s policy

Where the patients are insured by a recognised insurer AND patients have provided the appropriate policy details to the clinic, North Down Physio Ltd will seek payment directly from the insurer for 2 months following the treatment. If payment has not been received by this time, patients will be asked to settle the account within 7 days and pursue their claim with the insurers.

Patients are asked to settle any insurance excess within 7 days of notice being sent

North Down Physio Ltd cannot be held responsible for the non-payment of claims and patients should note that they are ultimately responsible for payment of their accounts

What if I need to cancel?

Reminder text messages or emails are sent as a courtesy to all our clients, however the onus is on yourself to keep a record of all of your future appointments.

There are always occasions when cancelling your appointment is unavoidable, but we do ask you to give us 24 hours’ notice, where possible, to avoid the cancellation fee.

Appointments being cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment time will be liable to a late cancellation charge. The charge will be £25.

If you are with an insurance company, please be aware of their cancellation policy as it is likely you will be liable for the cost.

We endeavour to help you remember your appointment by sending reminders, but if you fail to attend due to forgetting you will be charged the full fee of the session.

Please be aware if you are late for the session your treatment time will be reduced as it is unfair to run into the next patient’s time slot

What if I have additional requirements?

If you have any special requirements please notify our team at the time of booking.
