Laura is a physiotherapist here at NDP. She has always had a keen interest in Pilates since beginning training with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) back in 2013 and often incorporates pilates-based exercises into rehab programmes for her patients.
Laura firmly believes that Pilates can play a major role in the recovery from back pain and other joint and muscular pains as well as helping improve balance, proprioception, core stability and posture. Pilates exercises specifically target the deeper muscles of the trunk and pelvis, increasing the stability of the spine and improving flexibility which therefore reduces the risk of injury. The benefit of physio-led pilates is that your instructor can ensure safe application of each exercise and make adjustments if needed to accommodate any underlying issues you may have.
