Erica graduated from the University of Ulster in June 2002, and headed off to London to work in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust. Here she gained experience in various areas of physiotherapy including orthopaedics, paediatrics, amputee rehab, respiratory, neurology and went on to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
In 2006 she took a career break for 6 months and went travelling around the world. During this time Erica joined up with the NI Commonwealth Games Team in Melbourne, where she provided physio services to a number of the elite athletes. During this travel period she also found herself working as a volunteer physio in Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka, treating and managing a wide variety of conditions with limited resources.
On return home, Erica moved to Dublin and based herself in Private Practice for 7 years, working with various sporting and musculoskeletal injuries. She trained to become a STOTT Pilates Instructor, leading classes and 1 to1 sessions for various patient groups including Chronic LBP and ante-natal clients. In addition to our existing skill bank at North Down Physio, Erica is trained in myofascial release, which works various tissues of the body and requires that magic hand touch.
To compliment her manual skills, Erica is a highly skilled Acupuncturist, completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Acupuncture in UCD. She is actively involved with the Irish Society of Chartered Physio (ISCP) Acupuncture Clinical Interest Group where she has held the positions of Honorary Chairperson and Honorary Secretary.
Erica is currently the Physio for the GB Target Rifle Shooting Team, looking after the squad on training weekends throughout the year, and on tours leading up to the World Championships in 2015 when they head off to the USA…. hopefully for more success!
